Today, Precious Barry has motivated thousands of young people across the country through motivational speaking, storytelling, media, and community leadership. Her mission is to empower youth to overcome obstacles, build confidence, and understand that their background does not define their future. Through school visits, leadership events, and her platform Say It Proud with Precious Barry, she creates spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and inspired to use their voice.
From founding the first-ever NAACP chapter at Washington University in St. Louis to speaking on stages throughout St. Louis and beyond, Precious continues using her story to create impact and inspire the next generation to lead with confidence, purpose, and courage.

The beginning
Precious Barry was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in the 63136 community, growing up in challenging environments and around broken households that could have easily shaped her future differently. Instead of allowing those experiences to define her, she persevered through adversity and turned her struggles into purpose. Those early experiences built the resilience, strength, and passion that now fuel her work as a national public speaker, author, and youth advocate dedicated to inspiring others to overcome obstacles and use their voice with confidence.

Through her book, Precious has connected with thousands of students and families across the country, selling thousands of copies while leading read-alouds, book tours, school visits, and book signings that encourage literacy, leadership, and self-confidence. By combining storytelling with real-life experiences, Precious continues to create meaningful impact in schools and communities, empowering the next generation to turn their voice into purpose and change.

Through her podcast and media platform, Say It Proud with Precious Barry, Precious Barry creates a space dedicated to uplifting young voices, sharing powerful stories, and encouraging meaningful conversations around leadership, confidence, mental health, and community impact. The platform was created to ensure young people feel heard, valued, and empowered to speak boldly about their experiences and dreams.
In addition to her speaking and advocacy work, Precious has expanded her impact through media and communications, serving as an intern with Fox 2 News on Studio STL, a social media intern for the Washington University Police Department, and contributing to Washington University in St. Louis For St. Louis initiatives. Through storytelling, digital media, and community engagement, she continues motivating thousands of young people to embrace their voice, believe in their purpose, and create lasting impact in their communities.
